As heard on the Good Stuff with Jim Thompson
Some nights around a campfire light
we'll share some points-of-view,
'bout modern trends once seen as sin,
that raise a brow or two.
Like as not it'll get right hot
where we might start a row.
It takes ol' Ben to rein us in.
and clear the air somehow.
These words have many times been heard
to quell a brewin' fight,
"No matter, men," we'd hear ol' Ben,
"That still don't make it right."
Now, you can do what e're you choose
and be what e'er you like,
but in the end, I'll tell you friend
That still don't make it right.
Just quote away and have your say
'bout diff'rent ways of life.
Just cause it's done I'll tell you son
that still don't make it right.
Though it's been seen upon some screen
and in what critics write,
and oft endorsed by stars, of course,
that still don't make it right.
Just keepin' mum on what may come
is probably polite,
but goin, 'long with somethin' wrong
that still don't make it right.
Though you may close your ears to hear
or cover up your sight,
and try to be those monkies, three,
that still don't make it right.
I guess that that's just where I'm at
while sittin' here tonight,
Iv'e tried to share because I care,
and think ol' Ben was right.
