A Cowboy's Valentine

I guess by now you know just how
bad I am at buyin' a greetin' card

When I've gone down to our lil' town,
pickin' just the right one's too hard

So, you're one o' them, your collection's pretty slim
o' those store bought commercialized love notes

Yer Valentine treat got wrote 'n the truck seat
in one of them tally books like Waddie totes

I know it might not be right, but you 'n me is awful tight
and you know how my skills are sorta' strange

I guess I could modernize with trainin' and exercise
but, I wouldn't even know how to change

So here for the time bein', I hope you'll keep on seein'
what little good in me is still preserved

Everyday I look above and give thanks for a greater love
than an ol' cowboy poet ever deserved
