Waco and Sioux Go Shopping
by Hal
Swift
Waco doesn't much like the
idea,
but Sioux is just fairly hoppin'.
She's all excited because Waco
says
that he's gonna go with 'er shoppin'.
Now, Waco don't like
shoppin' at all,
it's somethin' he'd rather avoid.
But he knows if he
chooses to just stay home,
Sioux will be plenty annoyed.
Waco says,
"I'll go, but you need t'know
I'm waitin' in the pickup truck."
He tells
Rod, his pard, what he told Sioux,
and Rod says, "Yeah, good
luck!
"Waco," he says, "when you shop with a lady,
you don't go along
for the ride.
You gotta go inside, and stay with your woman.
For her, it's
a matter of pride."
Waco says, "Naw, Sioux ain't like that.
Why she's
just one of the boys."
Rod says, "Waco, pay attention to me,
that's one of
'er fema-nine ploys."
Waco says, "Yeah? Well I betcha ten
bucks."
"Okey-dokey," says Rod, I'll call."
"The bet," says Waco, "is I
set in my truck,
and listen to the Rangers play ball."
Two days pass,
before Rod sees Waco,
who acts like he don't see him.
Rod catches up and
says, "Wake, you okay?
My boy, you look kinda dim."
Waco looks at Rod, and he
shakes 'is head,
his face an inscrutable mask.
"How'd it go?" says Rod,
and Waco growls,
"Just take the ten bucks and don't ask."
